Historical re-enactment at the Museums Lagazuoi and 5 Torri 11 - 12 August

EXPERIENCE HISTORY HANDS-ON

Saturday 11th  and Sunday 12th August

Learning history while having fun!

Don't miss the unique opportunity to receive interesting explanations and satisfy any curiosity concerning WW1 on the Dolomite front by passionate historians.

Saturday 11th  August - Lagazuoi
Museological setups and representations will demonstrate live the soldiers' life in high-altitude military camps.

The re-enactors will be happy to illustrate  their uniforms and equipment and provide historical explanations.


On Sunday 12th August - 5 Torri:

a group of 70 re-enactors from all over the world will recreate aspects of World War 1.

POGRAMME AT 5  TORRI - On Sunday 12th August

·         9 a.m.: gathering of the re-enactors, lining-up and saluting the flag

·         9.20 a.m.:  ascent to the open air museum 5 Torri by chairlift

·         10.30 a.m.: Holy Mass service in front of a mobile war altar celebrated by the priest Don Alessandro wearing a historical uniform

·         12 / noon:  the re-enactors eat their lunch “military rations” from mess kits from the First World War

SETUPS

·        Emplacements manned by line infantry soldiers, Alpini and Bersaglieri of the Royal Italian Army, coordinated by lieutenant colonel Roberto Semenzin;

·        a mountain cannon garrisoned by the artillery section under the command of Giovanni Salvador, who will perform a gun salute shooting;

·        emplacements manned by Standschützen, Kaiserschützen of the Imperial-Royal Austro-Hungarian Army;

·        emplacements manned by Jäger of the German Alpenkorps with field telephone station;

·        a field hospital coordinated by the medical officer Dr. Mauro Fiorentin, assisted by the staff of the Italian Red Cross in historical uniform and medical material of that period;

·        machine gun point emplacement of the Royal Army with an Italian machine gun Maxim M.1910 under the command of Sgt. Livio Lupi.

 

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

·         The visit of the Open Air Museums and the guided tours are free of charge

·         The museum can be reached on foot or via the lift facility

·         No reservation needed

·         Time: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gebirgschützenregiment 2 (Slovenia, 3 re-enactors).
